Behrend Volleyball Wins Home Match Against Grove City

Penn State Behrend responded from a loss over the weekend with a decisive victory against the Grove City Wolverines on Wednesday, September 30 at the Junker Center.  The blue and white took the match 3-0 with set scores of 28-26, 25-19, and 25-21.

Behrend fought hard to win the first set and took that momentum into the second and third.  The blue and white took command of the second set by establishing a lead and holding to it.  The third set was a back and forth battle as the lead changed hands four times late in the set.  Behrend seized control and went on to capture the victory.

Alex Johnson (Imperial/West Allegheny) had eight kills while Mary Sperry (Atlantic/Conneaut Lake) added nine of her own.  Brooke Gallentine (Mt.Pleasant/Southmoreland) handed out 31 assists and served two aces.  Danielle Woods (Pittsburgh/Baldwin) had 11 digs with two service aces.

The Behrend Lions improve there overall mark to 9-5 and remain 2-1 in the AMCC.  next up for the blue and white will be a doubleheader on October 3.  Behrend is set to play Pitt-Greensburg at 2:00 p.m. and then again at 4:00 p.m. when they battle Ursuline.  Both matches are set to take place at Pitt-Greensburg.
