Penn State Behrend senior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) volleyball player of the week on September 18.  Wagner helped the Behrend Lions capture the Westminster College tournament championship with a 4-0 record on September 15 and 16.

Wagner tallied 36 kills, 44 digs, and 10 service aces in the four matches over the weekend and was named to the all-tournament team.  She currently ranks in the top ten in the AMCC in several categories as Wagner is averaging 2.59 kills per game, 3.24 digs per game, and 0.72 service aces per game on the season.

"Lisa has been a terrific leader for our program and came through with some big plays this weekend," said head coach Phil Pisano.

The Behrend Lions captured their second consecutive tournament championship with wins over Pitt-Greensburg, Lake Erie, Grove City, and host Westminster.  Behrend now stands at 9-0 on the season.  The blue and white are next in action on Tuesday, September 19 when they travel to Buffalo State.  The next home event for the Behrend Lions is a tri-match on Saturday, September 23.  Behrend will open conference play on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against La Roche and will battle Daemen at 3:00 p.m.
