Wagner Selected as AMCC Volleyball
Player of the Week

State Behrend senior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) was
named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) volleyball player
of the week on September 18. Wagner helped the Behrend Lions capture
the Westminster College tournament championship with a 4-0 record on
September 15 and 16.
Wagner tallied 36 kills, 44 digs, and 10 service aces in the four matches
over the weekend and was named to the all-tournament team. She
currently ranks in the top ten in the AMCC in several categories as Wagner
is averaging 2.59 kills per game, 3.24 digs per game, and 0.72 service aces
per game on the season.
"Lisa has been a terrific leader for our program and came through with some
big plays this weekend," said head coach Phil Pisano.
The Behrend Lions captured their second consecutive tournament championship
with wins over Pitt-Greensburg, Lake Erie, Grove City, and host Westminster.
Behrend now stands at 9-0 on the season. The blue and white are next
in action on Tuesday, September 19 when they travel to Buffalo State.
The next home event for the Behrend Lions is a tri-match on Saturday,
September 23. Behrend will open conference play on Saturday at 11:00
a.m. against La Roche and will battle Daemen at 3:00 p.m.
