Behrend Volleyball Opens 2007 Season at River City Tournament
The
Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team heads to Marietta College to open
its season at the River City Tournament August 31 and September 1. On
Friday, Behrend will play host Marietta at 7:00 p.m. and then face Chatham
at 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, the blue and white battle Thiel at 12:00 p.m.
followed by Division II opponent Ohio Valley at 2:00 p.m.
A year ago the Behrend Lions advanced to the ECAC South Region Championship
Game and finished with a 29-4 record. The squad returns eight players
from the 2006 season, including lone senior Deanna Ciccarelli
(Pittsburgh/Penn Hills). Behrend has also added seven
hard-working and talented freshmen to join its returners for the 2007
season.
Head coach Phil Pisano said, "We're looking forward to our first chance to
compete this season. Our young team will benefit from challenging some
strong teams early on. The players have responded well in training so
far, and are excited to begin the playing schedule."
