Volleyball Ups Mark to 5-1 in AMCC With 3-0 Win Over Medaille

The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball defeated the Medaille Mavericks (4-16, 0-5) in three straight games, 30-20, 30-13, and 30-17 to up league mark to 5-1 and now post a 15-11 overall record.

"It was nice to be back at home, and it was good to see us play more aggressively," said head coach Phil Pisano. "Each conference win is important and I thought Deanna really stepped up with a strong performance. Our team fed off her energy and focus tonight."

Behrend dominated the match Tuesday night. In game one the ball bounced back and fourth before Behrend finally erupted in the 30-20 win. Game two and three featured much of the same as the blue and white logged 17 point and 13 point scoring differentials.

Shelia Odgen (Grove City/Grove City) tallied 10 kills and five blocks, while senior Deanna Ciccarelli (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills) earned 17 digs. Also, Jenna Benzenhoefer (Murraysville/Franklin Regional) posted eight kills and four blocks, with Kellie Marett (Volant/Wilmington) adding nine kills and ten digs.

Upcoming games feature important AMCC contests. This Saturday, Behrend will host Mt. Aloysius in the Junker Center at 1:00 p.m. Then on Wednesday the team travels to Pitt-Bradford for a 7:00 p.m. match and the regular-season wraps up with Penn State Altoona traveling to Erie for a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday, October 27.
