Behrend Lions Advance in Opening Round of Winter Classic With 71-52 Victory Over the Grove City Wolverines on Friday in the Junker

Penn State Behrend raced up and down the floor en route to a 71-52 home win over Grove City in the second game of the Winter Classic.

Grove City trailed early and tied the game at 11 apiece at the 11:40 mark of the first half, but went to the break down 33-25. Behrend's defense forced 21 Wolverine turnovers and opened up a 27 point second half lead, and earned their second win of the young season. Grove City fell to 2-6.

Penn State Behrend's Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) and Julia Andrus (Corry/ Corry) combined to hit 12 of 18 from the floor for 28 points, and worked for nine rebounds and six steals in the win. Jessica Serafin (Boalsburg/Bellefonte) added 12 points in the win.  

In game one on Friday night, Thomas More (KY) dropped Buffalo State 73-67 behind a double-double from Brooke Warner. She recorded 15 points and 13 boards, while Megan Wood chipped in 13 points and five rebounds. The Bengals were led by Darnika Moseley's 19 markers and 10 rebounds. Buffalo State (2-5) will play Grove City in the 1:00 p.m. consolation contest, while Behrend and Thomas More (5-3) will meet in the 3:00 p.m. championship game.
