Slomski Named AMCC Basketball Player of the Week (12/12/05)

Penn State Behrend’s Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women’s basketball player of the week.  The junior forward helped the Behrend Lions capture their home Winter Classic Tournament championship on Friday and Saturday with wins over Grove City and Thomas More.

Slomski was a major force for the blue and white as she averaged a double-double for the weekend (14.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg), including a 16-point, 14-rebound effort versus Thomas More in the finals.  For the season, Slomski is averaging 11.8 ppg and is ranked fifth in the AMCC in field goal percentage, shooting 51% from the floor.

The Behrend Lions (3-3) travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to take part in the Adidas Shootout December 18-23.  Behrend will face Gettysburg on December 21 followed by either Rhodes or Benedictine on December 22.
