Behrend Lions Head to Las Vegas for Adidas Shootout

The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team will look for its third consecutive win on December 21 when they face Gettysburg in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of the Adidas Shootout.  Behrend will be in Las Vegas from December 18-23 and compete twice as part of the 12-team shootout.

The tournament will be hosted on the campus of UNLV, and the Behrend Lions will square off December 21 against Gettysburg at 3:30 p.m. PST.  The following day Behrend will face either Rhodes or Benedictine to wrap up the tournament.  Coach Roz Fornari said, “We are really looking forward to this trip which will be a great experience for the team.  Not only will we face some great competition, but most of our players will be traveling to Las Vegas for the first time, which should make it an exciting trip for us all.”

Behrend (3-3) has been led this season by juniors Brittany Mays (Keystone/Knoch) and Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell).  Mays is pouring in 13.2 ppg while posting 7.0 rpg, and Slomski has been good for 11.8 ppg and 7.4 rpg.  Also contributing for the blue and white is sophomore Jessica Serafin (Boalsburg/State College) who is scoring 12.3 ppg while leading the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in three-point field goals made with 17.

Upon returning home, the Behrend Lions will be off until January 6 when they host conference rival Penn State Altoona at 6:00 p.m. in the Junker Center.
