Behrend Lions Roll Past Penn State Altoona 67-54

The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team dominated the glass and outscored Penn State Altoona by 22 points in the second half in a 67-54 victory at the Junker Center on Friday night. 

Behrend was led by Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) who scored a game-high 17 points on seven-of-ten shooting from the floor.  She also grabbed five rebounds and tallied three steals.  

Penn State Altoona was leading 34-25 at the half, but were held to just five field goals in the second half as the Behrend Lions roared back.  Behrend trailed 31-39 early in the second half but took the lead with just over 13 minutes to play in the midst of a 17-0 run.  By the end of the run Behrend was leading 48-39 and never looked back.
 
Sophomore Anne Priester (Wattsburg/Seneca) led the effort on the glass, finishing with eight rebounds while junior Brittany Mays (Keystone/Knoch) tallied seven boards.  Freshman Natalie Engel (McDonald/Fort Cherry) came off the bench to score 11 points and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

Altoona was led by Brittany Poorman's 15 point and five rebound effort, while teammate Kirstin Twardon scored ten points.

On Saturday at 4:00 p.m. the Behrend Lions (4-5, 1-2) will host AMCC opponent Mt. Aloysius who was in action at Pitt-Bradford on Friday night.
