Behrend Lions Down Pitt-Bradford by 21 in the Junker Center
The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team rifled through Pitt-Bradford on Saturday night 70-49 in the Junker Center. The Panthers fired out of the gate connecting on their first five shots racing to a 15-8 lead before the blue and white rallied with nine straight points. Behrend took a 17-15 advantage on a lay-up by sophomore Meagan Bielanin (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) and led the rest of the way entering the break with a 36-27 lead.
Behrend was paced by
shooting guard Jessica Serafin (Boalsburg/State College) with 17 on 6 x 11
from the floor. Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) and Julia Andrus
(Corry/Corry) scored 13 and 11 respectively. Anne Priester (Wattsburg/Seneca)
came off the bench to block six Panther shots, grab a game-high nine boards
with six points. The Behrend Lions forced 18 Panthers turnovers and held
them to only 36% from the field--improving to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the
AMCC. Bradford was led by Taiasha Brown who
contributed 16 points and six boards as the Panthers fall to 4-8 and 2-3 in
the league.
