Women Hang Tough With AMCC Leader Medaille But Fall 57-48
The Behrend Lions opened tonight's game with a three-point bonanza. Behrend (10-8, 7-5) hit four of its first five from down town to leap to a 15-8 lead. However, Medaille settled in and rallied to take a 24-22 advantage at the break on a jumper by Amanda Walling. In the second half both teams exchanged runs. Behrend freshman Natalie Engel (McDonald/Fort Cherry) hit a three from up top to cut Medaille's lead to two at 36-34. The Maverick's Marisa Clark hit five of six at the line and connected on a lay-up down the stretch to seal the nine point win. Behrend was paced by Jessica Serafin (Boalsburg/State College) with 14 while Victoria Innes had 11 points and five boards. Medaille improves to a league-leading 12-0, and moves to 17-1 on the season. They were led by Clark's 16 points and seven rebounds. The Behrend Lions now begin a key AMCC four-game road trip this Friday, February 3, at Mt. Aloysius (3-14, 0-10), followed by Saturday's 4:00 p.m. game at Penn State Altoona (4-14, 3-7). Then on Tuesday, the blue and white travel to Hamburg, New York to battle the Hilbert Hawks (6-11, 5-6) and on February 11, they play at Pitt-Bradford (6-12, 4-7).
