Behrend Women Shine on Television With Victory Over La Roche

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team (15-9, 11-6) was victorious 55-41 over conference rival La Roche (5-12, 7-17)  in a televised game on Friday, February 17.

Behrend jumped out to a 12-5 lead half way through the first half and never looked back, closing the half with a twelve-point lead, 23-11.  Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) and Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) combined for 13 points and seven boards by halftime.

In the second half La Roche was able to come back and make a game of it, closing the lead to 45-33 with six minutes left, but Behrend would prove to be too much.  Brittany Mays continued to have a strong game in the second half and finished with a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds).  Slomski led all Behrend scores with 13 points, along with her five boards.

Bright spots for La Roche included Ti'la Hardeman who finished with 17 points.  Beverly Kitchens added five points and seven rebounds.

The women are in action again tomorrow night when they host Lake Erie in their final regular-season game of the year.  The AMCC playoffs are scheduled to begin Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m.
