Brittany Mays Named AMCC Player of the Week

Behrend junior guard Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) was named this weeks AMCC Player of the Week.  In a pair of season-ending conference wins, Mays provided the spark for the Behrend Lions by averaging 15.5 ppg (52.0 FG%), 9.5 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.0 spg.  Her highlight was a 20-point, 8-rebound, 3 assist performance against Lake Erie.  Earlier in the week Mays also helped the squad to a win over Fredonia State, who was fresh off an upset victory of SUNYAC #1 Cortland State.  She contributed 6 points, 5 boards, 6 assists and 4 steals in a 70-64 win.  Mays currently has 758 career points and 489 career rebounds through three years of play.

The Women's basketball team will travel to Medaille College Friday, February 24, for an AMCC tournament semifinal round match-up with the Mavericks, scheduled for 5:00 p.m.  Medaille won the rights to host the tournament after going 23-1 in the regular season and winning the AMCC.  Fourth-seeded Behrend defeated the five seed Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday, February 21 in a thrilling two-point game that went down to the wire.  Top-seeded Medaille, along with the number two seed, Pitt-Greensburg had a first round bye.  Greensburg will face third-seeded Frostburg State on Friday at 8:00 p.m. The winner of Friday's contest will move on to play the winner of Pitt-Greensburg vs. Frostburg on Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m.
