Behrend Women Jump Out 15-0 and Never Look Back

The Behrend women's basketball team defeated the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 67-43 in the first-round of the Behrend Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, November 18.  The women started the contest on a 15-0 run that allowed them to cruise to victory the rest of the way.  In the tournament's other contest, the Fredonia State Blue Devils fought off a persistent Marietta team 83-70.

Leading the way for the blue and white was senior captain Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone), who rang up 14 points while shooting 7-13 from the field and also grabbing five boards.  Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) and Victoria Innes (Erie/McDowell) also found themselves in double-figures.  Andrus connected for 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists while Innes added ten.

Behrend stretched their lead out to 20-plus for most of the game off of 42% shooting from the floor and 77% from the line.  Anne Priester (Wattsburg/Seneca) cleaned up on the glass, racking up a team-high eight boards.

Behrend will play Fredonia State tomorrow, Sunday, November 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the tournament's championship game.  From there Behrend will meet Fredonia again, this time on their court on November 25.
