Penn State Behrend Lions Claw Frostburg State Bobcats 74-54

The Penn State Behrend Lions (14-2, 9-1) pounced on the Frostburg State Bobcats Saturday, January 20 earning a 74-54 win in the Junker Center. 

The women took a nine point lead (38-29) at halftime after a scorching first half by Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry).  The junior did not miss a shot in the first 20 minutes, leading the way with 12 points by going 3-for-3 from the floor and making all four of her free throw attempts.  Andrus was nearly perfect in the second half as well as she finished with a season-high 26 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor while making five of six at the foul line.  Andrus also handed out five assists and grabbed four rebounds. 

Also in double figures for Behrend was Brittany Mays (Keystone/Knox) who scored 12 points to push her career total to 994 points scored.  Meagan Bielanin (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) contributed with eight points and seven rebounds for the blue and white.

Frostburg State was led by Krystin Hargrove's 18 point, eight rebound, five assist effort.  The Bobcats also got 12 points and 11 rebounds from Tonya Handy, while Tracie George contributed with 12 points.

The win was the eleventh straight victory for the Behrend Lions who remain tied for first place in the AMCC.  They go on the road for the next two contests, playing January 24 at Mount Aloysius and January 27 at Pitt-Greensburg.
