Basketball Snags Twentieth Win of Season in AMCC Final After 72-53 Win Over Bradford Panthers
Behrend and Pitt-Bradford battled back-and-forth through the first twenty minutes before the blue and white forged ahead entering halftime behind lay-ups from Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) and Victoria Innes (Erie/McDowell). Behrend took a 35-27 lead into the break. In the second half Behrend's defense created more problems for the Bradford offense by forcing seven turnovers and limiting the Panthers to 37% shooting from the field as Behrend outscored UPB 37-26 over the final twenty minutes. Behrend was paced by senior Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) who was honored pre-game during senior night. She did not disappoint with a team-high 20 points on 10 x 19 shooting. Mays also chipped in six board in 30 minutes of action. Also in double figures was Innes with 16 markers on seven-of-eight from the field. Bradford falls to 9-15 overall and 8-10 in the league. The women end the regular season at 20-4 and 15-3 in the conference and will enjoy a first-round bye in the conference tournament on February 20. The women's team will play in the AMCC semifinals on Friday, Febuary 23 at 8:00 p.m. against the winner of #3 Pitt-Greensburg versus #6 Pitt-Bradford which will be played this Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
