Behrend Women Head to Medaille as Two-Seed in AMCC Tournament

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will head to Medaille College on Friday, February 23 for the AMCC tournament.  The women are scheduled to face the winner of #6 Pitt-Bradford vs. #3 Pitt-Greensburg match-up, which will take place at Greensburg on Tuesday.  Behrend is 2-0 on the season against both potential opponents.  The women beat Bradford 64-56 at their place, before closing out the season last Saturday with a 72-53 win over the Panthers.  The two games with Greensburg have been closer, with Behrend winning 72-63 at home and 61-59 on the road.  This marks the second year in a row that top-seeded Medaille has earned the right to host the tournament.

The women ended their regular season at 20-4 overall and 15-3 in the conference.  The team's shooting has been on target this season as they lead the conference in field goal percentage (.441), free throw percentage (..737), and three-point percentage (.365).  Leading the way for the women on offense will be senior guard Brittany Mays (Keystone/Knox) who averages 14.8 ppg and 6.8 rpg, putting her in the AMCC-top 10 in both categories.  The Behrend defense is second in the conference, giving up just 53.0 points a contest while holding teams to .349 shooting.
