Behrend Women Fall in AMCC Championship Game to Medaille

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team lost in the AMCC title game 66-39 on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo, N.Y., after being locked down by the Maverick's defense.

Medaille earns the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament and improved to 23-4 overall after posting a 17-1 mark in conference play. Behrend awaits word on a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament or a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament.  Brackets are announced on Monday.

In the championship game loss, the blue and white were limited to 19% shooting from the field and made 19 turnovers. Behrend was led offensively once again by senior Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) who had 16 points and 11 rebounds on 7 of 13 from the field.

Behrend beat Pitt-Greensburg by a count of 65-52 on Friday, February 22, to advance to the championship game. Medaille, who won their fourteenth straight game, is making their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Behrend ended their regular season at 20-4 overall and 15-3 in the conference.  The team's shooting has been on target this season as they lead the conference in field goal percentage (.441), free throw percentage (.737), and three-point percentage (.365). The Behrend defense is giving up just 53.0 points a contest while holding teams to .349 shooting.
