Behrend Women Earn #2 Seed in ECAC Southern Tournament

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team has been selected to the ECAC Southern Tournament as the #2 seed and will host a first-round game against #7 Moravian College on Wednesday, February 28 in the Junker Center.

The Behrend Lions (21-5) advanced to the AMCC Championship game on Saturday, February 24, before falling to the host Medaille Mavericks.  Behrend will be making its sixth appearance in the ECAC tournament.  The blue and white last competed in ECAC tournament in 2002-03 and were champions of the South Region in 1995-96 under head coach Roz Fornari.

Fornari said, "The ECAC tournament should be a great experience, especially for a young team such as ours.  We're also excited for the opportunity to host the game on Wednesday night and play on our home court again."  The blue and white boast a stellar 13-1 record at home in the Junker Center this season.

Moravian (16-11) last competed in the ECAC Southern Tournament in 2004-05, advancing to the championship game.   This season the Greyhounds also reached their conference title game, before falling to Messiah College in the Commonwealth Conference championship game.

Behrend is led by senior Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) who had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the AMCC championship game.  Mays leads the blue and white with 15.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg.

The location for the ECAC Southern Tournament semifinals and championship game will be determined based on the results of Wednesday's first round games.
