Penn State Behrend Moves to 2-0 in AMCC after Beating FSU 63-46

The women's basketball team hosted the Frostburg Bobcats on Saturday, December 1 on the Junker Center court.  The women win 63-46 to claim their second AMCC victory of the season.

Behrend's first-half pressure created 12 FSU turnovers, while limiting the Bobcats to shoot 40% from the floor.

Offensively Meagan Bielanin (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) hit 4-of-6 from the field for 10 points, while Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) added seven including the final five points of the half. With Behrend up 29-25 and twenty-four seconds remaining Andrus drained a three from the top of the circle and followed a missed jumper with a putback basket to give the blue and white a nine-point advantage entering the break.

In the second twenty Behrend's defense continued to make FSU uncomfortable as the lead swelled to 17 by the end of the game. The Bobcats shot only 20% from the floor in the second half.

Bielanin led the offense with 17 points and seven boards, while Andrus added 10 points and nine rebounds. Bench support came from Rachel Richardson (Moon Township/Moon) with 10 markers and Jenn Emberg (Cowansville/Kittanning) with eight points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes of work. FSU was led by Sidra Bing's 17 points and six steals. Behrend ups its league mark to 2-0 and is 2-4 overall while Frostburg falls to 3-4, and 0-2.

On Wednesday, December 5 the women will play their third conference game when they host Hilbert College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Junker Center.   The blue and white will then travel to Pitt-Greensburg for their final conference contest until after the new year.
