Basketball Improves to 5-3 in AMCC with Win Over Pitt-Bradford
On
Monday, January 21, the Behrend Lions picked up a big AMCC victory,
defeating the Pitt-Bradford Panthers 71-56, to improve to 5-3 in the league.
The first half was a back and forth battle between the two teams with
Behrend being provided quality bench minutes from senior Anne Priester (Wattsburg/Seneca)
and sophomore Christine Krankota (Conneaut Lake/Conneaut Lake).
Priester posted four points and a pair of rebounds, while Krankota connected
for three points in the final minute of play as Behrend headed to the half
with 33-31 advantage.
Meagan Bielanin (Erie/Mercyhurst
Prep) put away 14 points to lead the offense as Behrend shot 43% from the
floor.
In the second half, a series of
lay-ups did the Panthers in. For the game, Behrend shot 45% from the field
while forcing 18 UPB turnovers and outrebounding them 41 to 24. Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry)
added 11 points and four rebounds for the win.
Behrend has ten conference games remaining before the AMCC Tournament.
Next up for the Behrend Lions they will travel to Lake Erie to take on the
Storm on Wednesday, January 24. Tip-Off is set for 6:00 p.m.
