Women's Basketball Secure AMCC Playoff Win Over La Roche, 63-49
The Behrend women's basketball (14-12, 11-7) team hosted the first round of the AMCC Tournament on Tuesday, February 26, and advanced to the league semifinals via a 63-49 win over the La Roche Redhawks. The women entered the game seeded fourth, while the Redhawks at 14-11, 9-9, were the number-five seed. The blue and white's offense was
balanced with five players scoring four or more first-half points. Behrend
shot 50% from three-point territory and 48% from the field and made only
seven turnovers.
Emberg finished with a double-double after scoring a game-high seventeen points and hauling down 10 rebounds. Anne Priester (Wattsburg/Seneca) chipped in 11 points and six boards, while Andrus scored 10. Medaille College, ranked eleventh in Division III, will be hosting the semifinals and finals of the AMCC Tournament on Friday, February 6 with Behrend playing at 5:00 p.m. against Medaille. The second game will feature the Altoona/Pitt-Greensburg winner against Lake Erie at 8:00 p.m. The championship game will be played Saturday, March 1, with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. The AMCC Championship team will earn the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament.
