Behrend Women's Soccer Defender Earns Regional All-American Honors

Penn State Behrend women’s soccer defender Stephanie Bowen (McMurray/Peters Township) was named to the Great Lakes Region All-American Team for her performance in the 2005 season.  Medaille’s Cory Cwiklinski was the only AMCC representative named to the NSCAA-Adidas All-American Team, Bowen and six others from the conference earned regional recognition.

Bowen started all 21 games for the Behrend Lions and anchored a defense that allowed just .70 goals per game, a .087 shooting percentage, and an average of just eight shots on goal.  “Earning all-region honors caps off a great four-year career for Steph.  She has been a tremendously important player for out program.  She holds the team together in the back.  She will be missed not only because of her playing ability but also because of her leadership, said head coach Patrick O’Driscoll.”

The women finished the season at 14-3-4.  They were the runners-up in the AMCC championship, and were seeded #1 in the ECAC championship which was hosted here at Behrend.
