Behrend Booters Survive Double-Overtime and Technical Difficulties to Beat Westminster in Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament

The Behrend women's soccer team defeated the Westminster Titans 1-0 in double-overtime in the first game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament on sophomore Nikki Frisbee's (Valencia/Mars) goal with only one minute and fifteen seconds remaining in the second overtime period.

The game went scoreless for almost four periods and worked through a scoreboard malfunction and power failure in Behrend's opening home game of 2006.

"It was a good battling performance," said head coach Patrick O'Driscoll. "This result should give us confidence for the rest of the season."

Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) had another strong game making five saves and posting the shutout in goal. Behrend out shot Westminster 15-14 and improve to 2-1-1 on the year. The Titans fall to 2-2-1 and play Calvin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The blue and white will be in action against Thomas More on Sat 4:00 p.m. on the Behrend Fields.

In the tournament's second game of the day, Calvin (MI) moved to a perfect 6-0 with a
2-0 win over Thomas More (0-5).

Last season, the Behrend women finished 1-1 in the tournament.  They were upended 3-2 in the first game by Washington and Jefferson, but then came back in the consolation game to win 2-0 over Juniata.
