Women's Soccer Handles La Roche 1-0, Move to 3-0 in AMCC
The Behrend Lions looked poised and ready for action as the game began. The women dominated the first half, having a number of scoring opportunities, keeping the ball in La Roche's end most of the half. Despite out shooting the Red Hawks 12-4, the score remained 0-0 as the first half came to a close. Keeping consistent with the beginning of the game, the women continued to pound La Roche's defensive zone with a slue of scoring chances. Then in the 50th minute, freshman Krista Jones (Leechburg/Kiski) broke the scoreless tie. The women fought hard throughout the rest of the second half and held La Roche off. The blue and white out-shot the Red Hawks 24-7. Goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) recorded 7 saves on the day. The women now move to 3-0 in the AMCC conference and 4-5-2 overall. Next up for the women, they will host the Lake Erie Strom on Wednesday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. on the Behrend fields. This will be the fourth AMCC match for the blue and white this season.
