Women's Soccer Downs Lake Erie 3-0, Stay Undefeated in AMCC
The Behrend Lions began controlling the game from the very beginning. Only thirteen minutes into the game Jenna Hashets (Washington/Canon McMillan) scored from a pass from teammate Danielle Demay (Bethel/Bethel). Then just four minutes later, Jaclyn Stottlemyer (Charleroi/Charleroi) shot right past her defender and put the ball in the net to make the score 2-0. A minute later, Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chariters Valley) stole the ball in midfield, dribbled through a few players and placed the ball past the keeper. The second half was filled with much of the same domination the blue and white had in the first. Although they were unable to score, they out-shot Lake Erie 17-6 in the second half alone. Goalkeepers Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) and Beth Lacy (Erie/Harborcreek) split time in goal, playing a half each. They had four and five saves respectively for the day. Behrend out-shot the Storm 30-10. The women now are 5-5-2 on the season and 4-0 in the AMCC. Next up for the women, they will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on October 6, and take on the Bobcats at 2:00 pm. They will then host Pitt-Bradford later next week on the Behrend Fields.
