Behrend Stretches Streak to Six in a Row and Move to 6-0 in AMCC

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer offense erupted for nine goals Wednesday afternoon in another routine AMCC win over the visiting Pitt-Bradford Panthers by a 9-1 score.  With the win the blue and white extended its winning streak to six straight and improved to 7-5-2 and sit atop the AMCC with an unblemished 6-0 mark.

In rainy and wet field conditions, the Behrend Lions started slow with two shots being deflected off the crossbar. Then at the 24:19 mark in the first half, senior defender Jessica Carlson (Jefferson Hills/Thomas Jefferson) scored off a pass from Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) to put Behrend on the board. Within 30 seconds Bradford answered when Jordan Ercolani found the back of the net.

Then it was all Behrend. Nikki Frisbee (Valencia/Mars) scored a pair of goals during a two minute stretch to increase the lead to 3-1. Additional goals by Jenna Haschets (Washington/Canon McMillan), and two more by Frisbee made it 6-1 entering the break.

In the second period, Caitlyn Elser (Cranberry/Seneca Valley), and two more goals by Jaclyn Stottlemyer (Charleroi/Charleroi) closed out the scoring. Behrend outshot the Panthers 37-5 as UPB fell to 2-9 and 1-4 in the AMCC.

The Behrend women will strive to remain unbeaten in conference play when they host AMCC foe Frostburg State on October 13, on senior day. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. on the Behrend Fields.
