Women's Soccer Forges Tie in 2008 Season Opener
Versus B-W The game is recorded as an official tie for both teams, however the tournament format featured a shootout to determine advancement to the championship game. Behrend was geared up and via a 4-1 differential will advance to Sunday's title game at 12:00 noon. Although Behrend controlled the ball for much of the first half, the Yellow Jackets Natalie Fox scored off a nice pass from Linsey Clapacs at the 17: 46 mark as B-W took a 1-0 lead into the break. Behrend responded five minutes and six seconds into the next 45 minutes as sophomore Caitlin Elser (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) connected on a direct free kick to knot the game at 1-1. Each team had a couple good looks throughout the two overtimes, it finished locked up in a tie. The blue and white outshot B-W 14-7 for the game. Behrend's ace goal keeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) made four saves on the day.
In game two, Wooster (1-0) handled Geneseo 3-0, and
will battle Behrend at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Baldwin-Wallace (0-0-1)
and Geneseo (0-1) will play in the consolation game at 10:00 a.m. on
