Hanging of the Greens

The 2022 Hanging of the Greens ceremony, the oldest tradition at Penn State Behrend, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Behrend Chapel in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
All faculty, staff, students, and Behrend community members are welcome to attend.
Dress warmly and wear winter-appropriate shoes (sometimes the path can be icy).
Participants will include Dr. Ken Miller, senior director of administration and student affairs; and Penn State Behrend students.
This annual event has taken place since December 1948, in honor of the Behrend family. Ernst, Mary, Harriet, and Warren Behrend are interred at Behrend Chapel in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, where they are remembered each year in a candlelit ceremony of remembrance, singing, and thankfulness to the family that made Penn State Behrend possible.
