BEHREND CELEBRATES $51.7 MILLION CAMPAIGN SUCCESS

Volunteers and donors gathered at the Glenhill Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, September 25, to celebrate the success of Penn State Behrend's capital campaign, a part of Penn State's Grand Destiny Campaign. Over the past seven years, campaign gifts to the Erie college totaled a record $51.7 million, far exceeding the original $21 million goal.

"The Grand Destiny Campaign has had a great impact at the Behrend College," said Campus Executive Officer and Dean Dr. Jack Burke. "When the campaign began we had fifty-eight endowed funds, and today we have 113. Our endowment has grown from $5.3 million to $34 million, and this year the college awarded, for the first time, more than a half-million dollars in endowed scholarships."

"The Glenhill Appreciation Dinner is a great opportunity for us to thank the people who were instrumental in achieving this extraordinary campaign success," Burke said. "We could not have reached and exceeded our goal without the fine work of our campaign chair, Ted Junker, and our vice chairs, Hoop Roche and Robert Metzgar. The Campaign Committee took our needs to the community, and the community responded generously."

At the Glenhill Appreciation Dinner committee members Joe Benacci, Kurt Buseck, Jack Fatica, and Gary Raimy were recognized for their efforts. Burke also recognized posthumously the efforts of George Clark and Louis Pollock, who served on the committee prior to their deaths. Rod Kirsch, Penn State's vice president for Development and Alumni Relations, presented a Laurel Circle crystal to Kay Fasenmyer in recognition of the campaign commitments of her son, the late Richard J. Fasenmyer.

Gifts to the University-wide campaign totaled $1.3 billion, making it the largest fund-raising campaign in the history of Penn State. All funds raised at Penn State Behrend remained at the Erie campus to create new scholarships, new programs, and new facilities.
