Half-Gallon Sale A Success; Creamery Pints Up Next
Last Creamery Ice Cream Sale of the Summer Happens at CelebrateErie
If you missed the annual fund-raiser of Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream—you might have been the only one. The Penn State Behrend Alumni Society closed on its half-gallon sale this week with orders placed for more than 700 half-gallons—200 more than last year’s pre-sale.
But don’t fret! With only a four-day lapse from the cow to the scoop, the Creamery ice cream that will be available at this year’s CelebrateErie hasn’t even been made yet.
CelebrateErie, scheduled for August 17-19, is Erie’s last chance this summer to enjoy the legendary Creamery ice cream treat at a festival that celebrates the city. Proceeds from CelebrateErie as well as the half-gallon fundraiser benefit the Penn State Behrend Alumni Scholarship Fund. The Penn State Behrend Alumni Society booth will be located in Perry Square.
This weekend’s attendees can purchase a pint or a Dixie cup of Creamery ice cream for $4 or $1.50, respectively. Pint flavors will include vanilla, chocolate, peachy Paterno, cookies and cream, cookie dough, and death by chocolate. Dixie cup servings will feature with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peachy Paterno, and fudge ripple.
Those who placed half-gallon orders can pick up their ice cream on Saturday, Aug. 25, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Intermodal Transportation Complex, located at the Bayfront Highway and Holland Street.
Since its inception in 1987, the Penn State Behrend Alumni Society has developed a variety of programs and activities for alumni to continue their relationship with the college. The society organizes the annual reunion and networking events, facilitated the creation of an endowed scholarship to provide students with another source of financial aid, and serves as a resource for alumni, faculty and staff alike.
