Daily Summer Admissions Events Scheduled To meet growing demand, Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has added multiple opportunities for summer admissions visits by high school sophomores and juniors. “In the past we’ve hosted four formal summer admissions events, but that won’t be enough, based on the number of visit requests we’re getting and the distance some students will be traveling,” John Smith, undergraduate admissions counselor, explained. “We’ve decided to add a daily ‘Getting to Know Us’ session to better accommodate our prospective students and give each of them more personal attention.” The college’s traditional large-group Spend a Summer Day admissions events will be held between 2 and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13, and on Friday, August 10. The programs begin with an Information Fair for academics, campus activities and athletics, followed by presentations on admission requirements and financial aid and a walking tour of campus. Similar Spend a Summer Evening programs will be offered on two Thursdays, July 12 and August 9. Those begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. The new “Getting to Know Us” sessions will be held from Monday, July 9, through Wednesday, August 22. These sessions begin at 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; each lasts about two hours and will include a walking tour of campus led by a current student. Prospective undergraduate students and their families also will have opportunities to meet with faculty, admissions counselors and financial aid staff. For a complete schedule of Getting to Know Us sessions and to register, visit the Office of Admissions' Campus Visit web page. All summer admissions sessions are open to high school students at no charge, but reservations are required. To request more information, schedule a visit, discuss graduate admissions, or make arrangements outside of the scheduled programs please contact the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
