College For Kids Prepares for Anniversary, Record Year Click here to register College For Kids (CFK) celebrates 15 years at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, as it begins its summer 2008 program on Monday, June 9. CFK, which has seen increased attendance in recent years, is on track for a record number of registrations. To date, CFK 2008 has 802 registrations, which exceeds the total registrations of 776 in 2005. This year’s CFK offers 135 weeklong classes designed to educate, entertain and inspire young people ages 6 to 18. Classes are being held until the week of August 4; no classes will be held the weeks of June 30 and July 7.
CFK, which began in 1993, continues to grow with each passing year. In 2007, the program had 1,262 registrations and served 478 families representing 619 students; 2006 totals included 1,100 registrations, 442 families and 578 students. Last year, CFK branched out into the Erie community as well. Eleven CFK students studied under local artist A.J. Noyes to paint the new mural on the exterior of the fountain in Perry Square, located in downtown Erie. The Erie Downtown Improvement District and the City of Erie provided special support for the project.
