Lake Erie Chapter Hosts Annual Golf Scramble

Proceeds benefit students of northwest Pennsylvania

The Lake Erie Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will host its 15th Annual Charity Golf Scramble on Sunday, June 29, at Venango Valley Inn and Golf Course. Proceeds benefit the Lake Erie Chapter’s Robert W. Sparks scholarship fund for students from northwest Pennsylvania attending any Penn State campus.

The event includes 18 holes of golf, two carts per team, an arrival gift, and a chance to win one of six prizes. Refreshments will also be served free of charge throughout the day—coffee and donuts for breakfast, hot dogs and beverages on the course, and a steak luncheon.

The three hole-in-one prizes include $10,000, a $500 Callaway gift certificate and a trip to Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort in Blairsville, Pa. The three raffle prizes are a golfing weekend for two at Penn State’s Blue and White Courses in State College with free golf lessons and lodging at the Nittany Lion Inn, as well as a 50/50 drawing and three-day/two-night getaway trip.

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m., with a modified shotgun start at 8 a.m. The cost is $65 for current Lake Erie Chapter members and $75 for nonmembers. Registration is limited to 20 four-person teams and the deadline is Saturday, June 21.
