Penn State Behrend Community Urged to Enroll in PSUTXT The leaves are changing and the winter season is approaching quickly. Instances of inclement weather are a fact of life in our region at this time of year. With this in mind, all members of the Penn State Behrend community are urged to register their current cell phone information with the University’s PSUTXT text messaging alerts system. Enrollment in the program is free and easy to complete, but Penn State Behrend community members must opt-in to receive emergency text messages. Any current subscribers who would like to review their account status can do so by visiting http://newswires.psu.edu/ and clicking on PSUTXT LOGIN. To enroll, simply visit http://newswires.psu.edu/ and click on the PSUTXT REGISTER button at the bottom of the page to sign up. -- Once on the site, be sure to select the Erie Alerts box to receive alerts related to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. -- A PSUTXT registration is not complete until you receive a validation code and enter it online. A text message with the validation code will be sent to the cell phone number being registered. Validating the cell phone at the time of opt-in serves three purposes: It verifies that users have an active text messaging service on their accounts; ensures that only the person who owns the mobile phone is signing up for the service; and ensures that the user has correctly keyed in their cell phone number. If you have any questions or problems, please contact Suzanne Scarpino, Penn State Behrend's PSUTXT representative, at sms299@psu.edu or at 814-898-6063. |
