Free Concert Caps Week-Long YPC Choir Camp

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will hold a free public performance on Friday, August 7, at 7 p.m. in Bruno’s Café, located on the second floor of the Reed Union Building at Penn State Behrend.

The concert caps an intensive week-long choir camp for YPC Erie members. Performing that evening will be the Treble and Young Men’s choruses for singers ages 10 to 18, and the Elementary Chorus of singers between 7 and 10 years old.

YPC Erie is the first affiliate chorus of the acclaimed Young People’s Chorus of New York City. It is a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend operating under the artistic direction of Dr. D. Jason Bishop, who also is director of choral activities at the college.

“This concert is the finale for what promises to be an exciting week for our new and returning choristers,” Bishop says of the performance. “Parents, friends, and supporters of YPC Erie will see once again the amazing ability of Erie’s young people to accomplish great things.”
