University Police Request Information on Incident

University Police at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, are asking for the public’s help to investigate a recent incident on campus.

A bullet entered Lilley Library through a small second floor window, located on the eastern side of the library closest to Jordan Road. Police believe that the incident occurred between the late night hours of Wednesday, June 17, and the early morning hours of Thursday, June 18. No one was injured.

A passerby saw the broken window at about 3 p.m. on June 18, and alerted college officials, thus beginning the investigation.

Lilley Library was not occupied during the time the incident is believed to have occurred. During the summer, the library is open weekdays (Monday through Thursday) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The library is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. The ground and first floors are open today; the second floor of the library remains closed.

Pennsylvania State Police were on campus late Thursday afternoon and will be assisting with the investigation.

“Penn State Behrend is a safe campus,” Dr. Jack Burke, chancellor of Penn State Behrend, said. “We are taking proactive measures to resolve this incident and ensure a safe campus environment for the college’s students, faculty members, staff, and guests.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact University Police at Penn State Behrend at 814-898-6101 or Pennsylvania State Police at 814-898-1641.
