Students to Host Political Forum with Harborcreek Officials The Political Science Society of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is hosting a political forum with the Harborcreek Board of Supervisors and Harbor Creek School Board. The forum is Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in McGarvey Commons, located in the Reed Union Building. The two-part forum will include a prepared question portion followed by a town hall discussion at 7:30 p.m. The entire event is free, and open to the Penn State Behrend community and the public. It is co-sponsored by the college's Student Government Association. The panel will include Tim May, Republican candidate for the Board of Supervisors, Curt Smith, Democratic candidate for the Board of Supervisors, and School Board members Carol Bucklin and James Dolak. Dr. Robert Speel, associate professor of political science at Penn State Behrend, will serve as moderator. “It’s important for Penn State Behrend students to understand how much Harborcreek Township and its government impacts our lives,” said Zack Goncz, president of the college’s Political Science Society. “This forum provides a unique opportunity for students, in particular, as well as community members to speak with these candidates and elected officials directly and have our questions answered.” Goncz is a senior political science major from Hermitage, Pa. Goncz is coordinating prepared questions in advance. Students and citizens are encouraged to e-mail questions to zag102@psu.edu. |
