Teresa Martin
Class of 2005
Psychology
Corry, Pennsylvania
Behrend offers smaller classes which will provide you with a greater opportunity to interact with the other students and professors. Attaining a degree will at times seem like an awesome task, but it’s not impossible. It can be done with hard work and fortitude.
With four children and ten grandchildren, Teresa Martin is far from being a traditional student. In addition to her family priorities, Teresa is a full-time psychology major and, for the past three years, has been president of the Returning Adult Student Organization (RASO).
Teresa enrolled at Behrend because she needed a career change and became interested in psychology as a result of previous work experience.
“Behrend offered me the resources to attain that education from a location closer to home,” she said. “It also offered a degree which would be recognized world-wide.”
For Teresa’s psychology research, she was able to use her involvement in RASO and interest in returning adults to study adult student population.
“I would recommend joining a group or organization,” she said. “Not only does this provide a support group and perhaps study partners but a cheering section when things get tough.”
