Description
Orientation Leaders are current full-time students that practice and uphold Penn State Behrend's mission, core values, and school spirit! OL's are critical to the success of the New Student Orientation Program. OL's serve as an important resource to new and transfer students during Orientation and throughout their college years at Penn State Behrend. OL's welcome all students and their families to the Behrend campus community, facilitate discussions among groups of students and families, assist in the planning and preparation of Orientation, explain academic opportunities, inform student of the policies and procedures, and prepare students for their new collegiate experience.
Other duties include:
- OL's help to welcome all new students and their families to Behrend
- Assist in the coordination of Orientation events
- Motivate and encourage participation among all new students
- Teaching new students about how Behrend works and assists them in becoming involved in the academic and co-curricular life of the College
- The OL is essential in making sure all Orientation programs are exciting, educational and beneficial to participants
Expectations and Qualifications
- Attend all scheduled meetings and Orientation Leader training
- Continue communication and correspondence with Orientation Committee throughout the summer
- Must have a positive attitude and be capable to perform all assigned duties in critical and crucial situations to assure the best possible Orientation program and working atmosphere
- Be confident in conducting group discussions, campus tours and presentations, present accurate and candid information to students and families clearly and comfortably in individual and group settings
- Ability to respond to a wide variety of questions, individuals, circumstances and concerns with patience, composure, and caring approach
- Work with Behrend faculty, staff and administration in an enthusiastic and professional manner
- Serve as role model who respects celebrates diverse campus cultures
- Demonstrate leadership potential and experience
- Perform all responsibilities in a punctual, reliable candid and conscientious manner
