Career Development Center
On-Campus Recruiting: Fall 2005 and Spring
2006
The Career Development Center's on-campus
recruiting program offers students the opportunity to interview for
internships and full-time positions with a variety of employers from
business, industry, and government. On-campus recruiting is primarily
a pre-select system, where employers select candidates from among the
students who request interviews with them.

Alumni can call the CDC to have registration
instructions and the registration form e-mailed to them (814-898-6164).
Current students:
For those who could not attend a Nittany
Lion Recruiting system seminar, you can review the information in
one of two way to become eligible to use the system:
A. Use the CDC ANGEL site
-
Go to
www.angel.psu.edu
and login with your PSU username and password. Then click group
search
-
Click keyword search, & type in CDC Behrend.
-
Click on enroll by
pin & enter (in CAPS) CDCBD.
-
Go to “my groups”, click on the Career Development Center Folder,
and then CDC Behrend.
-
Click on Nittany Lion Recruiting folder and follow instructions
below.
In order to be eligible to register with the Nittany Lion Recruiting
(NLR) system and use it for On Campus Recruiting (OCR) to request
interviews with employers coming to Behrend, University Park and
Harrisburg, you need to open and read the following files, in this
order:
-
Nittany Lion Recruiting Overview Fall 05.ppt
-
Behrend NLR Student Overview.doc (print this unless you come to
CDC to get hard copy)
-
Behrend OCR Student Policies.doc (print this unless you come to
CDC to get hard copy)
-
NOTE: Click Next in upper right of ANGEL to advance to the next item
in this set.
After reading all these documents, you will be eligible to request
your NLR account (see Behrend NLR Student Overview.doc for
directions).
-
ANGEL tracks your file usage, so after you request
your NLR account, the CDC will verify that you have read the above 3
documents, and then activate your NLR account within 2 business days
of your requesting it.
-
You can then begin to use the NLR system to
upload resumes, search for jobs, request interviews by submitting a
resume, and scheduling interviews when selected.
B. Come to the CDC and view the documents on CD on our student
computer. Call or visit the CDC to schedule computer time, or stop
in to see if it is available.
For questions, contact CDC Associate Director
Andrew Watters, or Staff Assistant
Carole Morey, or 898-6164.
Is On-Campus
Recruiting for Me?
On-campus recruiting is not for everyone, nor will it serve every
need. Most positions offered are in business, industry, or government
and are for students with technical or business backgrounds. Students
with liberal arts or health and human development backgrounds should
not rule out on-campus recruiting, but should be advised that the
opportunities will be limited. If you are seeking a career in the
arts, social services, education, politics, communications, health
care, or a similar field, a self-directed job search is a must. Even
if you are seeking employment in business and technical fields you
should consider on-campus recruiting as only one method of seeking
employment. Students in all fields should learn to conduct a
full-scale job search (see the Career Development Center's Job Search
Manual for more information on the job search). Please make an
appointment in the CDC to discuss your job search.
Save the Date for the following
company information sessions and interesting learning
programs related to your career.
Times and locations are subject to change, and
additional programs will likely be added, so watch for our
e-mail updates!
