Child Care Assistance to Student Parents |
Penn State University has been awarded $280,000 a year until 2009 from the U.S. Department of Education to provide child care financial assistance to student parents University wide. The Federal “Child Care Access Means Parents in School” program authorized by the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, assists universities and colleges across to improve child care access for student parents. Penn State’s Work/Life Programs Office has implemented the Student Parent Child Care Subsidy Program at all Penn State campus locations. Eligible student parents can utilize these funds to assist in child care costs at approved child care centers and home care providers. Student parents also may receive assistance with before-and-after school care, sick and emergency care, summer child care, and care during finals and mid-term periods.
