RECREATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS Apex Sports: The purpose of Apex sports is to allow Penn State students to express their athletic pursuits in a manner that is condusive to Penn State's policies. Cheerleading Club: A co-ed recreational club whose members promote school spirit and whose goal is to encourage students, faculty, and staff to attend Behrend sporting events and to promote spectator participation which is positive in nature. Chess Club: Provides opportunity for members to advance in the game of chess, through club play and tournaments. Cycling Club: Promotes cycling while bringing together students and faculty who are interested in cycling. Equestrian Team: The Penn State Behrend Equestrian Team provides a competitive framework as well as a professional and supportive environment for riders from all backgrounds. The team is a member of a national organization. Fantasy Gamers: Students practice role-playing games and fantasy or collectable card games. Hockey Club: Members of the WPCHA Hockey League, the Behrend Hockey club competes against other college Hockey clubs. KingPins: Bringing together the students of Behrend who enjoy the activity of bowling, discussing the state of bowling today, and what the future may hold for the sport. Lacrosse Club: Offers Behrend students the opportunity to play recreational Lacrosse. Officially recognized by the National Collegiate Lacrosse League. Martial Arts Club: Promotes skill development in the art of self-defense. The club has weekly workouts on campus and has as an advisor that is a martial arts instructor. Outdoors Club: The purpose of this club is to organize outings and various recreational activities such as snow skiing, rock climbing, camping, hiking, canoeing, biking, and any other outdoor interests. Sailing Club: Organizes events for members and the student body to participate in, and coordinates the use of the sailboat donated to Behrend by the Bayfront Center for Maritime Studies. Educates members in the sport of sailing. Ski and Board Club: To give Behrend students the opportunity to take trips with fellow members and to introduce new skiers and snowboarders to the sport. Volleyball Club: Offers the students the opportunity to participate in intercollegiate volleyball. World Soccer Organization : WSO brings together students of different nationalities at Penn State Behrend to play soccer. |
