STUDENT LIFE ORGANIZATIONS Auto Club: The Auto Club brings together students who have an interest in automobiles and/or a future in the automotive industry. The Auto Club sponsors a yearly car show. The Behrend Beacon: Penn State Behrend's weekly student newspaper. A variety of staff positions for reporters, copy editors, photographers, and advertising representatives are always available. Letters to the editor on news content, University policy, and editorial issues are welcome. Behrend Computer Science Organization: Encourages students to discuss novel applications of computer technology in the broadest sense. Speakers and students are invited to give presentations on current hardware and software. Social activities as well as opportunities to participate in conferences are provided. Blue and White Society: To support the Penn State Alumni Association's mission to "connect alumni to the University and to each other, provide valued service to members, and to support the University's mission of teaching, research, and service." Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship: Exists to give Penn State Behrend students a place to worship, fellowship, pray and develo personal spiritual growth in response to their belief in God. College Republicans: Dedicated to furthering Republican principles and providing a voice for Republican students, faculty, and staff. Commuter Council (CC): The primary advocate for off-campus students to the college and the Student Government Association, Commuter Council serves commuting students by conveying their concerns and needs to appropriate offices. Members also volunteer to serve the Erie community through various projects. Homecoming Committee: Brings together the student body, faculty, staff and alumni through the planning and implementation of Basketball Homecoming Activities. Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) : IVCF helps students grow in their relationships with Jesus Christ through fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, and missions. The members of IVCF have sponsored "Stump the Chump", a Bruno's Cocoa House featuring Christian bands, and "Ultimate Frisbee". Lawrence Hall Council: Provides residents of Lawrence Hall an opportunity to get to know one another and gives the residents a voice in their community. Lion Ambassadors: Lion Ambassadors help promote Penn State Behrend spirit among students, alumni, and friends of the University. Through spirit raising programs, the members share their pride, enthusiasm and commitment to promote the college and University. Lion Entertainment Board : LEB plans and implements events that serve the cultural, educational, recreational, and social interests of the Penn State Behrend community. The board serves as the primary student programming agency on campus. Weekend events at Bruno's, weekly films, and a cultural series are all coordinated by the board. Newman Association: A Catholic-based organization that seeks to bring students closer together and to God through learning, prayer, fellowship, and service. Recent events include a Shamrock Shake sale, the building of a playground, clothing drives, and various social activities. The organization also sponsors the weekly Mass on campus, and a fall and spring retreat. Niagara Hall Council: Gives the residents of Niagara Hall the opportunity to be involved in the Behrend community, starting with Niagara Hall. Pathfinders: Pathfinders help familiarize students with the Army ROTC program at Behrend through outdoors activities such as repelling and paintball. The club will teach students firearms safety and proper usage. Community service is also a goal of the Pathfinders. Perry Hall Council: Gives students the opportunity to become more involved with the Behrend Community, and to make their residence hall a better place to live. Returning Adult Student Organization : RASO promotes the concerns of returning adult students and provides friendship and support for adult students and their families. This organization is devoted to providing fellowship for students who bring adult life experiences to their college role. Senat Hall Council: Provides a way for Behrend students to become more involved in campus life, and make their residence hall a better place to live.
