The Escort Service at Penn State Erie
is designed to enhance your safety and peace of mind if you
walk on campus after dark. Escorts are not provided off
campus. The primary goal is to deter sexual
harassment, verbal abuse, and assault, and to enable you to
travel with a greater sense of security.
The Escort Service is intended to be primarily
a walking service with mobile escorts provided when determined
to be appropriate. When calling for an escort, you should assume
that you will be given a walking escort.
The mobile escort is not intended as an
alternative to other forms of transportation, and may be denied
in the following cases:

to or from employment

When two or more people are going to the same destination

If other means of transportation are available

If it is determined that a person has provided false
or misleading information to the dispatcher
Who is eligible to use the Escort Service?
The Escort Service is provided free to all students, faculty,
and staff. A Penn State ID card or faculty/staff card, as appropriate,
is required when receiving escort.
When are escorts available?
Escorts are available from dusk to dawn, 365 days a year, based
on the following schedule:
- Fall: 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., beginning Sunday, Labor
Day weekend, in September
- Winter: 6:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., beginning Sunday, last
weekend in October
- Spring: 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., beginning Sunday, end
of Spring Break in March
- Summer: 8:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., beginning Sunday, prior
to the start of summer classes
When the Health and Wellness Center is open, non-emergency
medical escorts will be provided from any location on campus.
Who will escort me?
Escorts may be provided by Police Service officers,
Property Protection Guards, or Student Auxiliary members.
To what locations can I be escorted?
The Escort Service will provide you with an escort to any location
on campus. Escorts are not provided to any off-campus location.
How do I arrange for an escort?
Call Extension 6101 any time between dusk and dawn. Due to other duties,
escorts may be delayed. If this is the case, you will be advised
how long it will be before the escort is available.
