Role
of the Student Auxiliary Program
The
Office of Police Services offers our Student
Auxiliary program to train and offer unique experiences to
students while getting paid under the Federal Work Study
Program.
Student
Auxiliary Officers help us maintain a strong relationship with
the community by working alongside us in variety of situations
including foot patrols, parking enforcement, building security,
and medical emergencies. Additionally, the Student Auxiliary
Program offers special duty security for special events and
other functions on campus.

for Excellence"
Applicants
for the Student Auxiliary Program must undergo a criminal
background check and employment history check. Student Auxiliary
officer are trained by the Police officers in such
subjects as University regulations, patrol techniques, report
writing, Officer Safety, and communication.
All
Auxiliary Officers are issued uniforms and necessary gear and
are expected to meet the Service's high standards of dress.

Qualifications
- Must
be a current student eligible for work study
- Be
of good character and undergo a criminal records check (no
criminal convictions)
- Be
willing to work a variety of hours (minimum of 4 hours per
shift and a maximum of 20 hours per week)
- Must
be willing to work at least one weekend per month
- Demonstrate
that the job will not interfere with academic endeavors
- Commitment
Expectations
Student
Auxiliary Officers are expected to work approximately 6-12 hours
(1-2 shifts) per week including weekends. Officers are required
to be in uniform unless otherwise notified.
