Your CHAT Tutor is a peer, Learning Resource Center trained, tutor who has demonstrated exceptional skills in courses that you will most likely be taking this year. There are several reasons why your CHAT Tutor is a useful resource:
REASON 1: Your CHAT Tutor may have already had the professors you are about to take and can therefore better prepare you for the style of teaching your professor may have.
REASON 2: Your CHAT Tutor is in your own backyard! They work right in the residence hall. How much easier could it be to get some help with your academics than towalk down to your lobby and visit your ever ready CHAT Tutor.
REASON 3: Everybody's doing it. In the past two years over 600 first year students visited their CHAT Tutor with questions in Physics, English, Science, Math and Humanities.
REASON 4: Not only can your CHAT Tutor assist you with study skills, but he/she can also help you prepare for exams
The transition into college is filled with a number of new experiences including those that you'll have inside the classroom. Some students will find the academic transition to be fairly fluid while others may feel like they're drowning. Not to worry, we're here to throw you a life saver and help you stay afloat. The SPARC Program is a great way to get a handle on the tools that will assist you in becoming academically successful. You will have an opportunity to meet faculty members, explore study tips and note-taking skills, as well as enjoy the advantage of in-hall peer tutoring in subjects that you will be taking this year.

"If you've gotten a quiz or test grade that you weren't happy with, have you looked into tutoring or spoken with your professor to see what you can do to improve. "
